Coolant tank

Alloy coolant tank complete with level sensor, all original fittings and uses stock cap.

Spent some time after work yesterday machining the fittings and the guys got it all welded up. Been a while since I single point threaded on the manual lathe. Saab and their odd thread profiles on these caps.      Still need to terminate the wires and bolt it in.  Might spend a few more minutes polishing it but looks nice enough for the test mule. I was going to PC it black texture but there is something about shiny aluminum welds.

Why?  Maybe someone knows…

  1. Dmitry Platonoff says:

This calls for a copper finish. Would be the best steampunk coolant tank ever!

  2. Nathan says:

This would have been perfect when both my parents v6’s wound up needing new coolant tanks under warranty after splitting at very inconvenient times.

    • Alex says:

Agreed, would have been nice before I drove out 300 miles for a recall hah.

  3. vinsempre says:

    Very cool!

I want to ask you if there is the same “radiator effect” as in the stock configuration.

    • NickT says:

Certainly.. Would not want to compromise function on my car much less customer cars..

  4. Edge says:

Oh hell, that’s cool. Any chance you’d take a custom order for one of these?

    • NickT says:

Certainly. We are working on production version with sturdy strut bar as a package.

  5. Sam Pyeatte says:

I need an aftermarket fix for the leaking fluid resevor. I think that it is the one for the power steering. Anyway, your mechanic pointed out the prob. when he was working on my blue 99 9_3 on Feb 20th You guys could probably sell allot of them as they always seem to leak according to your mechanic .
